A junior doctor who started his training at Raigmore Hospital says he is determined to use his experience to ensure the next Scottish Government “puts the recovery first”.
Announcing his candidacy for the Inverness and Nairn constituency in May's Holyrood election David Gregg made a commitment to improving access to mental health care, bringing an end to local young people being priced out of the property market and pushing a new upgrade plan for rail services to reduce carbon emissions.
The selection of David Gregg for Inverness and Nairn means the Highland Liberal Democrats have selected two candidates under-30 for the Scottish elections.
Molly Nolan is challenging for the Caithness, Sutherland and Ross seat.
Mr Gregg said: “With the pandemic leaving so many Highland residents struggling, it is more important than ever to roll up our sleeves and make a difference.
“I’ve been speaking with residents across the constituency and listening to what matters to them. It is clear they want politicians to put the recovery first, and that is what I will do.
“Inverness and Nairn deserves a positive plan for the future, That is why I am campaigning to increase investment in young people, fight climate change, and get more mental health workers into our schools and GP surgeries.”
Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie said: “With our party’s deep roots in the Highlands and David’s experience as a junior doctor, we are offering people the opportunity to build back better from the pandemic.
“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to put the recovery first and end the years of division over the SNP’s focus on independence and the Conservatives' bad Brexit.”
