It was a much smaller gathering than usual, but the message was just as resonant: We will remember them.
Poppyscotland opened the Garden of Remembrance at Cavell Gardens, Inverness, with a short dedication on Monday, with the public now able to visit and pay their respects.
Canon Dr John Cuthbert conducted the service, and wreaths were laid by the Royal British Legion Scotland and Poppyscotland.
Dr Claire Armstrong, chief executive of Legion Scotland, said: “The public can still come together in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Coronavirus must not be allowed to cancel remembrance, but public safety is paramount.”
The pandemic is having a huge impact on this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal, with thousands of Poppyscotland volunteers forced to stay at home.
