HIGHLAND solicitors and estate agents Innes and Mackay have sponsored a local school football team’s new uniforms.

Drakies Primary School’s P4/5 team had their previous lottery funded kits for more than three years and they were in urgent need of replacement before Stuart Anderson, one of their coaches, appealed for sponsorship from businesses on Facebook and Innes and Mackay came forward with £500 for 16 kits.

Their sales manager Paul Coutts said: “A lot of time and effort goes into organising school teams from the volunteer coaches so we are happy to help in any way we can.

“Drakies is an area we have always enjoyed serving and have many clients there, so it makes sense for us to get involved with sponsorship for the new strips. The kits are very smart and will hopefully give the kids a little bit of extra pride and a boost before their matches.”

The team of 13 boys and girls are affiliated with Highlife Highland’s Active Schools, but as a team they do not receive any specific funding.

Mr Anderson: “We are very grateful. It is very difficult to afford kits as a large chunk of funds goes towards paying for indoor training facilities during the winter.”
