Ashers bakery is keeping up with the times with a range of shortbread figures in kilts and face coverings.

The Law Abiding Scots are being billed as a funny and tasty coronavirus twist on Ashers’ long-standing kilt-wearing MacGingers.

After the launch caused something of a stir on social media, dividing opinion between people who do not approve of the move to wearing face coverings in public and those who do, director Ali Asher said: "We’ve largely had positive feedback on our new products, which were simply a new product development with what is intended as a fun representation of the current conditions we are living in.

"We had not expected the debate that it opened on our Facebook post launching the new products.

"We certainly do not want to offend anyone who is anti-wearing a face mask and they have every right to their opinion on the matter, as do people who are pro-wearing face masks.

"We just ask that people are kind and respectful to each other."

Ashers has been gradually reopening shops under the “new normal” circumstances across the Highlands and Moray.
