Inverness street cordoned off: Police Scotland officers have reportedly taped off a street in Smithton amid reports and photos on social media showing numerous police vehicles and officers

UPDATE: ‘Ongoing concern for person incident’ sparks large police response

Police in Inverness have cordoned off a street in Smithton.

A large police presence was being reported by witnesses in the Smithton Park area of Smithton on Monday afternoon..

Multiple police vehicles and officers have been seen on the street, with onlookers being kept back behind the cordon tape.

Some of those at the scene have claimed members of the armed response unit are among the officers in attendance, although the force has yet to confirm this.

Police Scotland has been approached for information as to the nature of the incident but had yet to comment.
