Inverness Sheriff Court hears an offender is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans told the court that lorry driver Ethan Cascarino (32) of Bruce Avenue, Inverness, was lucky to be alive after being injured last October.

He told Sheriff Margaret Neilson that his client’s wound was near an artery and required 16 stitches.

He said: “He does have a bad record but this assault may have left him with a shorter fuse than previously.”

Cascarino appeared in court last month and admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his partner in her home in Carse Road, Inverness on May 19.

The court heard that he also breached a bail condition by subsequently visiting her at the property on June 30, though this was at her invitation.

Cascarino was placed under 18 months of social work supervision.

He was also ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work and fined £100.
