A 32-year-old joiner who was struggling to cope with a relationship split barged his way into his ex-partner's house and refused to leave.

Michael Corbett, of Darochville Place, then attempted to grab her phone as she tried to phone the police, and managed to get it. He left the property and threw it back into her garden on the night of February 5 this year.

Corbett admitted threatening or abusive behaviour and was fined £245 by Sheriff Nigel Cooke.

Defending, John MacColl said: "They had been in a relationship for 10 years but broke up a few months before this incident. He was struggling to cope and has sought help. There is little prospect of a recurrence and there is no ill will between the parties."
