Jodie Gordon makes history as first–ever Tulloch Homes' female apprentice in Tulloch's largest apprenticeship programme to date

Fifteen-year-old Jodie Gordon, from Ardersier, has become Tulloch Homes’ first-ever female apprentice.
Joining the Inverness-based housebuilder along with nine other apprentices as part of Tulloch’s largest apprenticeship programme to date, Jodie has just left Culloden Academy and is beginning her painting and decorating apprenticeship.
Jodie said:”I’m really looking forward to the opportunity and I’m delighted to now be part of the Tulloch team.”
David Macdonald, Tulloch’s painting and decorating manager, said:”We had a huge amount of interest from budding apprentices this year and Jodie, along with the other new recruits, really stood out during the application process”.
A second painting and decorating apprentice successful in the recruitment process is Noah Wilson, 23, from Inverness.
Among the new recruits are Tulloch’s first bricklaying apprentices for 16 years: 18 year old George Tempest from Tain and David MacRitchie, 23, from Milton of Leys. Key contractors Ken Griffin and Ally Matheson will be responsible for their training.
Four new joinery apprentices have been recruited by joinery manager Hugh MacGillivray. Three are 16-year-olds, Seoras Ogilvie from Kiltarlity, Jack Dalgarno from Millburn Academy and Kelvin Keil, Inverness High School, while Josh King, from Inverness Royal Academy, is 17.
Plumbing and heating manager Gordon Macallister will take charge of two new apprentices, 17-year-old Seth Anderson and 19 year old Rowan Earl, both from Inverness.
Tulloch Managing Director Sandy Grant said:”Investing in the next generation of construction workers and developing the young local workforce is a key part of our ethos at Tulloch and across the wider Springfield Group.
“We’re addressing the local skills shortage in employing and training young people, working closely with Inverness College to channel their career development.
“This is our largest single intake in years and we’re pleased to have created a number of opportunities for local school leavers to learn a skill in the classroom while putting their new theory into practice in a working environment.”
