Inverness man jailed for throwing brick through windscreen of ex-girlfriend’s car
An Inverness woman ended her relationship with her boyfriend as he had spent most of the time serving a prison sentence.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard the split occurred three months before 33-year-old Connor Bennett, also from Inverness and designated as an Inverness prisoner, was released on May 3.
But Bennett did not take the news well that his ex-partner was in a new relationship and phoned her on May 4, calling her a derogatory name and saying: "You are getting murdered. I am going to set your house and car on fire."

Fiscal depute Alison Young told Sheriff Gary Aitken: "This left her in a state of alarm and she told the accused to leave her alone before hanging up."
However on May 15, she parked her silver Mercedes A-class car outside her new boyfriend's house and in the early hours of the following morning, her partner's father heard a crashing sound.
Mrs Young went on: "He looked out of the window and saw the accused running away and could see damage to her windscreen."
The prosecutor added that Bennett had thrown a brick through the windscreen and had been seen by another witness. Around £1500 worth of damage was caused and the police were contacted.
Bennett admitted a charge of domestic abuse and damaging her car while on two bail orders.
His solicitor advocate Shahid Latif told the sheriff: "What was a fit of pique morphed into criminality. There is no justification for this behaviour and he accepts there can be no other sentence apart from prison. But as these offences go, it is at the lower end."
Bennett was jailed for 16 months, backdated to July 4 - his date of remand.
