Jail sentence for Inverness man who broke bail conditions to stay away from woman
A man who broke bail conditions to contact the woman he had an “on-off” relationship with for two years, was jailed at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Sean MacKenzie (47) will serve six months but was told by Sheriff Cruickshank it would have been nine months custody but for his early guilty plea.
The court was told that MacKenzie, who also admitted similar other bail breaches, was granted bail last September on a charge involving his partner.

He also admitted to his part in the original domestic incident which resulted in the bail condition to stay away from her and from St Margaret’s Road, Inverness where they lived.
Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told the court that on Tuesday of this week police had occasion to attend at the address in St Margaret’s Road on an unrelated matter, and heard MacKenzie laughing inside.
Officers entered and he was arrested.
Defence solicitor Willie Young told Sheriff Cruickshank that it was the woman who had contacted his client, saying she wanted to resume the relationship.
Sheriff Cruickshank said that was an explanation often given for such bail breaches, and while MacKenzie could apply to have his bail conditions changed, he had to consider three previous similar breaches of bail conditions.
MacKenzie was jailed for five months for the original domestic incident, with an additional month for the bail aggravation.
