A family dispute between an Inverness painter and decorator and his ex-partner erupted when he sent her a menacing email threatening to stab her.
Trevor Geddes, of Benula Road, Inverness admitted the breach of the Communications Act which was committed on March 22.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the 45-year-old had now enlisted the help of a civil lawyer to resolve the matter.
Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald heard that Geddes wrote: "I will stab you in the face. Jail or not, I don't care."
Sentence was deferred until December 8 for his good behaviour but the sheriff told him: "There is no excuse for sending such a nasty and violent message. It was very frightening."
