The 45-year-old was jailed for six months in connection with the incident.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Donald MacPhee, of Benula Road, Inverness, was arrested on another matter on April 2.

A routine search of him revealed a small amount of cocaine.

Fiscal depute Victoria Silver told Sheriff Ian Cruickshank that MacPhee had to be taken to Raigmore Hospital but he did not want to go in.

“He resisted efforts to take him in and struggled violently with officer,” Ms Silver said.

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson explained that his client “has a record which does him no favours and he was under the influence of a substance”.

MacPhee’s sentence was backdated to April 4 when he was remanded in custody.
