A road rage incident resulted in a Glasgow man being jailed for 80 days at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank was told that a woman driver narrowly missed two pedestrians in Galloway Drive, Inverness, on April 12 this year.

It prompted 39-year-old Christopher Harvey, of Sandfield Street, Glasgow, to approach the woman, with whom he had an argument prior to the incident. He admitted a charge of threatening behaviour.

Fiscal depute Rowena Carlton said: “He was standing outside her vehicle, kicked the door and threw a punch towards the woman through the open window.”

Defence solicitor James Mulgrew said: “My client and another man were in Galloway Drive and she drove along and narrowly missed them. He accepts he should not have approached the car. He has a record and it is accepted that only a jail sentence is appropriate.”

Harvey’s sentence was backdated to April 13, when he was remanded in custody.
