The Mustard Seed restaurant in Inverness was forced to evacuate customers and staff after a gas leak last weekend.

The leak on Sunday evening broke out from a "stove in the kitchen and outside" according to manager and operations director Christine Robertson.

Speaking yesterday she said: "We had a gas leak outside and a gas leak in our small stove in the kitchen. Our large one was fine.

"We called out an emergency plumber and he closed off all the gas access to our building which left us with no heating as well as all our gas appliances being out of commission.

"We had to close our service on the Sunday evening from around 6pm.

"I came in at 7am on Monday morning with a plumber from Barnies and he got everything apart from the small stove operational again and the leaks sorted.

"My assistant manager, Brian, is currently on the way back up from Stirling with a small stove in a van to get our kitchen up to full capacity.

"The excitement of Christmas!!!!"

The restaurant is set to re-open as usual by this evening with a new stove being fitted this morning.
