ScotRail have issued a notice to rail travellers and visitors to Inverness that its main train station car park off Strothers Lane will be out of action until next year.

A statement from ScotRail on X confirmed that renovation works taking place at the popular parking spot will mean the facility will be unavailable from October 4, 2024 until the end of January, 2025.

The closest alternatives for rail travellers will be the public Strothers Lane car park nearby, and multi-storey parking at Eastgate and Rose Street, although the latter is also currently being affected by restrictions.

Around 200 of Rose Street multi-storey car park’s 850 bays have been cordoned off since the summer, after it was announced that a range of repairs were required on the ageing building.

The notice from ScotRail read: “Due to renovation works at Inverness station, the main ScotRail car park (off Strothers Lane) will close from 4 October 2024 until the end of January 2025.

“Alternative parking is available at the Strothers Lane Car Park, Rose Street Multi-Storey and East Gate Multi Storey.

“The accessible (blue badge) parking spaces will be relocated to the Station Sq car park at the front of the station.”
