Tesco staff stopped an Inverness woman from leaving the store without paying for almost £450 worth of goods in her trolley.

Erin Birse (21), of Ashton Road, was in the Inverness Shopping Park supermarket with others on February 11.

Fiscal depute Victoria Silver said the group were being watched by a duty manager and they entered the unmanned checkout area. But the court heard they carried on walking and were stopped before making their escape with £449.94 worth of items. There was full recovery of the goods, Ms Silver told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood.

Birse admitted theft by shoplifting and sentence was deferred until August 11 for a background report.
