INVERNESS SHERIFF COURT: Man turned up at city flat wielding a knife

The man turned up twice with the weapon before police were called.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard residents were terrified by the man's actions.

The occupants of the Mackintosh Road property phoned the police on November 17, 2020 and officers attended.

But while they were there, 32-year-old Henry Robertson of Viewfield Road, Inverness returned for a third time still holding the knife.

The door was answered by the officers and Robertson was arrested before being taken to Burnett Road police station.

However, Inverness Sheriff Court was told that while in a cell, Robertson pressed the contact buzzer which brought two force support officers to investigate.

Fiscal depute Martina Eastwood said that Robertson tried to grab one of them through the cell hatch and then spat twice at the other, claiming he had Covid. The spittle landed on his chest and hand.

Robertson admitted illegal possession of a bread knife and two charges of assault.

Defence solicitor David Patterson said a background report would be required and added: "He is completely ashamed of his conduct."

Sheriff Sara Matheson deferred sentence until November 22.
