A 41-YEAR-OLD plant operator who was jailed for eight months last year for assaulting his partner verbally attacked her several times while she was carrying his baby.

Gary Fraser, of Culduthel Park, Inverness appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted engaging in a course of domestic abuse of the woman on March 18 and 19 this year.

The offences were said to have occurred outside Cauldeen Primary School, Morvich Way and Hilton Village.

Sheriff Robert Frazer was told that Fraser’s partner was due to give birth on August 18 and she wanted him to be present.

Defence solicitor advocate Shahid Latif said: “There has been blame on both sides of this relationship that was at an end.”

But he also indicated that the woman was not in favour of a non-harassment order which would prevent Fraser from having a relationship with the unborn child.

However, Sheriff Frazer said that due to Fraser’s record which included crimes of violence, one against his partner and breaches of court orders, he deemed him as unsuitable for bail at this time.

Sentence was deferred until August 15 for a background report and he was again remanded.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair said that Fraser repeatedly contacted her [the victim] in person or by phone, uttering insults, derogatory remarks and threats of violence towards her and her family. He also said he would damage her house.

Mrs Gair quoted two messages: “When I get out of jail, I will do it all again. I will torture you and your family.”

The second: “Your house is still standing. It won’t be for long.”

Mrs Gair said that on receipt of this, the woman was in fear and contacted police for him to be arrested.
