Inverness road remains closed after ‘small void’ sparks investigation
An Inverness road could remain closed for three weeks after being restricted to investigate the appearance of a “small void”.
The Culduthel Road and Drummond Road junction was closed from 6.30pm yesterday evening.
A Highland Council spokesperson confirmed that this is due to a small void that had appeared on the road, with road staff currently in discussions with public utility companies in an attempt to identify the source of the problem.
They said their aim is to reopen the road “at the earliest opportunity”.
However the Temporary Traffic Prohibitions Notice related to this incident says it will remain remain in effect “until 6.30 hours on Wednesday, November.
It states: “The reason for making this Notice is to enable temporary traffic prohibitions to be put in place during road pavement sub-surface investigation works.”
The notice continues stating that an alternative route is available using the U3872 Drummond Road, Stratherrick Road, Drummond Crescent (C1064), Island Bank Road, Haugh Road (B862), the C1184 View Place and Culduthel Road (B861).
Exceptions will be made for vehicles employed to carry out the works and traffic management and those requiring access to or from premises on or adjacent to the road closed or which are only accessible from those lengths of road.
