Inverness railway bridge closed overnight as emergency services attend to an incident near the tracks

An Inverness railway bridge was closed for over two hours early this morning (Tuesday, July 16) due to an emergency incident.

Emergency services were called to Clachnaharry Railway Swing Bridge shortly before 1am.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 12.58am and one appliance was dispatched to the scene.

The road was closed at 12.58am, and reopened around 2.43am.

Police Scotland confirmed it was a “concern for welfare” report.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a concern for welfare near the tracks close to Clachnaharry just before 12.40am today.

“Officers attended and the person was assessed by medical professionals and taken to a place of safety.”

The person was taken to hospital for further assessment.
