Inverness Post Office is officially set to move into the nearby Church Street Co-op, with final dates for the Queensgate branch confirmed.

Confirmed today (November 4), move dates for the Post Office and Co-operative Group have been agreed.

Post Office has agreed to relocate the branch - currently based in Queensgate - to the Co-op convenience store at 59 Church Street on Thursday, November 27 at 1pm.

Currently, the Co-op store has been undergoing refurbishment works since August for a major refit, which includes the relocation of the city’s Post Office. This refit was scheduled to end on October 30 - however that date has now come and gone.

A Co-op spokesperson confirmed last week that they were hoping to reopen “as soon as possible”, but did not elaborate further.

Following the refurbishment, there will be a dedicated Post Office area in the Co-op store, with three Post Office counters.

Post Office says that the same wide range of service will be available at the new branch location and its trading hours there will be: Monday-Friday: 9am–5.30pm; Saturday: 9am-12.30pm.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We recognise Post Office branches can become busier as the Christmas season approaches. Whilst the Post Office in the Inverness Co-op is due to be fully open, we have decided to continue services at the current Inverness Post Office, 14-16 Queensgate, until Christmas Eve.

“The current branch, will briefly close on Wednesday, November 26 at 3pm and re-open on Thursday, November 27 at 1pm. That will be run on an interim basis.

“Due to provider operational requirements, during the period that both locations are open, there may be a split between locations for some services available.”
