An Inverness-based motorhome hire company is supporting a charity cycle challenge for the second year.

North500 Motorhomes is backing the 2025 ‘Doddies Grand Tour’ challenge, led by ex-Scotland captain and British & Irish Lions legend Rob Wainwright. Cyclists will be transporting the match ball for the Scotland v Ireland Six Nations match from Dublin to Murrayfield for the match on Sunday February 9.

The cyclists taking part will be raising funds for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, the charity which raises vital funds for motor neuron disease research. Last years ‘All roads Lead to Rome’ challenge raised over £500,000 for the charity.

The North500 vehicles will be making their way from Dublin, starting on Tuesday March 4, supporting Rob’s team as they then cycle the gruelling 700+ miles across the south of Scotland and finishing in Edinburgh on Saturday February 8.

Operations director Colin Harrison commented “North500 Motorhomes are honoured to play a small part in supporting this year’s exciting challenge. We wish Rob and everyone taking part the best of luck in reaching Edinburgh, as well as achieving their fundraising target which will aid the vital research needed into MND.

“Our luxury vehicles will certainly ensure the team has somewhere comfortable and excellently equipped to relax after an exhausting day cycling. Our vehicles regularly navigate the Highlands, Islands and north of Scotland so are the perfect option for this year’s challenging south of Scotland route.”

Rob Wainwright added: “We thank North500 Motorhomes for their generous support in providing these support vehicles. We look forward to arriving into Edinburgh with the match ball on Saturday February 8 and seeing as many people as possible for a celebration ahead of Sunday’s match.”
