Inverness man starved his dog for three months

A 24-year-old Inverness man starved his dog and denied it veterinary treatment for three months.

Morgan Walker, of Castle Heather Drive, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted causing the animal unnecessary suffering by act or omission by failing to provide it with adequate nutrition of veterinary treatment between March 20 and June 20, 2024 leaving it with chronic malnourishment.

It was not stated if the dog had survived and no other facts were provided to Sheriff Gary Aitken who immediately called for a background report.

Defence solicitor Patrick O'Dea told the court: "He is a vulnerable person and a report would be useful."

Sheriff Aitken commented: "Not really as vulnerable as the dog."

Walker is expected to be sentenced on February 20.
