An Inverness man who shouted racist threats to a Macedonian couple was sentenced to 80 hours of unpaid work at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Stuart McConnachie (42) of Torvean Avenue, Inverness, pleaded guilty to abusive behaviour after he acted in an aggressive manner.

The court heard that the man was concerned about the relationship his daughter had with the couple’s son.

Fiscal Depute David Morton told Sheriff David Sutherland: “On March 10, 2020, McConnachie phoned an address in Dalneigh and acted in a racially offensive manner.

“During the call he said ‘Why are you coming to Inverness? I am going to batter you all’.”

Defence Solicitor, Matthew Berlow, said: “My client regrets the loss of temper and the language used.

“His daughter was 15 and a half at the time and was in a relationship with the son of the Macedonian couple.

“He felt that his daughter was led astray and started getting into trouble.

“This was two and a half years ago, his daughter is now 18 and has moved on.”
