Inverness man has ‘no recollection’ of assault on former partner
A man who couldn't remember attacking his partner in his home has been ordered to take part in a programme for male domestic abusers.
Mark Lennan (46) of Anderson Street, Inverness appeared at the city’s sheriff court for sentence by Sheriff Sara Matheson, having previously admitted assaulting his partner on June 19, 2022.

Sentence had been deferred for a background report.
He pleaded guilty to throwing his partner about, pinning her against a wall, seizing her by the neck, pulling her by the arms and pushing her on the body, all to her injury.
Lennan also admitted spitting at a police officer in Burnett Road police station in Inverness after he was arrested.
Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell told the court: "He was previously in a relationship with her but it is now at an end. They are still on speaking terms.
"His record is unenviable but much of it is due to him previously having problems with drug misuse.
“Both were under the influence of substances at the time and as a result he has no recollection of this. But he accepts that he did it."
Lennan was sentenced to two years of social work supervision as an alternative to custody and banned from approaching or contacting by any means his ex partner for the same length of time.
