Inverness man banned for drink driving
A DRIVER was banned for being at the wheel while unfit through drink or drugs at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Gary Mackay of Anderson Street, Inverness was seen by police driving in Grant Street.
Depute fiscal Niall Macdonald said his driving gave police concern who activated their blue light.
Mackay continued to drive to his home where he was put through an impairment test which he failed.
"He was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred," said the fiscal.
Defence agent Willie Young said 49 year-old Mackay's father had recently passed away and he had been prescribed medication which left him impaired.
A first offender, he pleaded guilty to driving on October 24 last year while unfit through drink or drugs.
Sheriff Gary Aitken imposed a £600 fine and disqualified Mackay from driving for a year.
