Inverness man attempted to bite police officers after arrest
A man who had been the victim of an assault ended up trying to bite police officers.
Raymond Marshall (38) was traced on Inverness’s High Street after police had been alerted to a disturbance between two males on August 25 last year.
Fiscal depute Shamiela Ghafar told Sheriff Gary Aitken at Inverness Sheriff Court that Marshall was unhappy and began to shout and swear at police officers.

Ms Ghafar continued: “The area was very busy with tourists and young children and his behaviour was very alarming to members of the public.
“He told police officers, ‘I hope you all die’. He was then handcuffed to the rear of a police vehicle and they waited for marked police officers to arrive.
“He was taken to Burnett Road police station and at first refused to get out of the van.”
He then swore again at the officers before attempting to bite them and was taken to the cells.
Marshall of Portland Place, Inverness, pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Sheriff Aitken ordered him to carry out 110 hours of unpaid work over 12 months as a direct alternative to custody.
Sheriff Aitken said: “The way you handled the situation was unacceptable.
“Your saving grace is that you are working hard to turn your life around.”
Marshall’s defence solicitor, Clare Russell, said: “He made it entirely worse for himself as he had been the victim of assault.”
