Inverness personal trainer Wallace Wilson has been dumped from the hit TV dating show Love Island.

Millions of ITV2 viewers watched as the 24-year-old model and fitness fanatic was voted out by fellow contestants on Sunday evening.

Wallace had entered the luxury South African villa with high hopes seven days earlier, arriving with Demi Jones who became Nas Majeed's love interest.

But the Scot struggled for air time after initially stirring up a sensation online by using the phrase “diluting juice”.

He then fell victim to an unhappy coupling with controversial Geordie Rebecca Gormley.

The pair didn’t hit it off, admitting during Friday's episode they weren’t attracted to one another and had no connection.

Wallace spent his final night in the luxurious Cape Town pad sleeping alone in the so-called “doghouse”.

On his final show, Wallace also suffered the indignity of being custard pied by Rebecca in the contestants' "kiss, marry or pie" game.

Rebecca said: "You might be cute, but you're not my type."

After the viewing public voted him and Rebecca as one of the two least compatible couples on the show, fellow contestants sent him and Sophie Piper packing.

Respective partners Rebecca and Mike Boateng survived the cull.

Villa pal Callum Jones said: "I don't think Wallace has had a chance."

In his show biography, Wallace – who works for Dynomorph Fitness and frequents the DW gym in Inverness – described himself as “funny, confident and energetic”.

He also rated himself as eight out of 10 for looks.

As he exited, Wallace told remaining contestants: "Thanks everyone who tried to keep me here, and for those who didn't it is just one of those things."

Despite his early departure, it is not all doom and gloom for the Inverness man.

During his time on the show, Wallace’s profile exploded, with his Instagram following soaring from 900 to currently more than 44,000.

Love Island could open plenty of doors career-wise for Wallace, who also works as a model on the books of the Scottish creative talent management firm Colours Agency.
