Ahead of its official reopening one Inverness jewellers had already received a number of phone calls from customers asking them when they were planning to be back in business.

Lapis Goldsmiths and Jewellers, which has been based in Eastgate Shopping Centre for the past 12 years, has received a positive reaction since reopening.

Assistant manager Gemma Allan said: “It’s good to be back. Everyone is being careful and keeping their distance.

“The centre has done a good job of getting everything in place.”

She said she was feeling optimistic and added: “We come in here every day and we have a positive outlook – you take things as they come.”

Miss Allan said it was good to see the tourists returning and added: “I think they will gradually start to get more confident.”
