Inverness Ice Centre holds annual figure skating training camp

Talented figure skaters from across the UK flocked to Inverness last week to take part in the Ice Centre’s annual figure skating training camp.

The 65 skaters ranged from advanced beginners to championship competitors, multiple medal-winners and those who have represented Great Britain abroad in major international events.

The classes ran for five days and were led by international coaches Karen Goodwin, Kathryn Hudson, Sue Summers-Farrell and Graeme Summers-Campbell.

Skaters were put through their paces by experts in strength, conditioning, flexibility, drama, dance and yoga.

Olympic judge and referee Margaret Worsfold, along with international coach and technical specialist Alice Fell also travelled to Inverness to share their knowledge and expertise.

Inverness Ice sports development officers Graeme Summers-Campbell and Sue Summers-Farrell said: “This year’s camp was a tremendous success again and the skaters were absolutely thrilled with their improvement!”

Learn-to-skate classes will be recommencing on September 10.

Beginner ice hockey sessions take place on Saturdays and curling events will be announced soon.
