An Inverness hotelier has expanded her reach after buying a property in Easter Ross.

Roselyn Fraser has owned the Beaufort Hotel in Inverness for past 30 years.

Looking for a fresh challenge and a new venture, she decided to take on the Commercial Hotel in Alness after it was put up for sale earlier in the year.

Ms Fraser said she had simply fallen in love with the character of the place.

“I just loved the vibe of it,” she said.

“I’d been there before and always loved the character of it, the people and the whole place.

“I had been thinking about buying a second place for a while and when the opportunity came up, I viewed it and went for it.”

The Commercial Hotel in Alness High Street had been owned by the Roberston family for the past 30 years, but was put up for sale when Graeme Robertson made the hard decision to leave to spend more time with family.

His brother Gary has remained on at the hotel and will help Ms Fraser out, which she is very happy about.

“I’ve got some big boots to fill after the Roberston family has owned it for such a long time”, she admitted.

“It’s so good to have Gary still here and he will be at the helm of the place.

“Having him stay on is a big part of why I took on the hotel.”

Ms Fraser has also been blown away by the hotel’s staff who, she says, provide first-class service to customers.

The regulars have also welcomed Ms Fraser into their fold, for which she is most grateful.

She said: “I worked over the weekend, we were really busy and the staff are all fantastic.

“There is a great team at the Commercial and I was so impressed with them all.”

She added: “The locals are all fantastic and they are such great characters – they’ll keep me right!”
