An Inverness hotel has raised nearly £51,000 for the Highland Hospice through a golf day and dinner.

Kingsmills Hotel held the event at Nairn Golf Club, with 25 teams competing in the annual competition.

Chief executive of Kingsmills Hotel, Tony Story said: "After deciding to nominate the Highland Hospice our principal charity nine years ago, having experienced the very special care and vital service the hospice provided to close family, it felt very appropriate to get behind the fundraising effort and try to raise £100,000.00.

"I was delighted that this was taken up by the entire team at Kingsmills and we are delighted to announce that our annual Kingsmills Highland Hospice Golf Day and Dinner 2023 raised £51,000.00 and has taken the cumulative total raised to just over to £389,000.00.

"This year we had 25 teams compete and this year’s winner were the ‘4 C’s’ who have now won the title on three times occasions.

"We wish to thank everyone who supports our annual golf day with so much passion: the team hosts, the golfers, local companies all who supported with fantastic prizes and to Nairn Golf Club for hosting our competition on this occasion.

"Our team at Kingsmills work incredibly hard behind the scenes to make this possible and run seamlessly. 2024 will mark our 10th Highland Hospice Golf Day and what better course to host this special day than the iconic Royal Dornoch Golf Club who are donating the use of the “Championship” course free of charge on Friday 19th April 2024.

"These will be the most sought-after charity golf competition tickets in the Highlands.”

As this is the tenth year of the Kingsmills Hotel fundraising effort for Highland Hospice, the team are attempting to take the cumulative total to over £500,000.00 with a further non-golfing event toward the end of 2024.

Karen Duff, corporate fundraiser at Highland Hospice added: "We are delighted to have received an incredible donation once again this year from the Kingsmills Hotel, each year they host their golf event I’m in awe of the generosity of our Highland community.

"The day was fantastic from start to finish and we are already planning next year at Royal Dornoch, this is set to be a day to remember.”
