Heathmount Hotel in Inverness closed for deep clean after member of staff tests positive for Covid-19

The popular Hetahmount Hotel in Inverness has closed for the day after a part-time member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The owners of the the Heathmount Hotel, bar and restaurant took the decision to close today, ahead of a deep clean of its premises.

The hotel, on Kingsmills Road, placed a notice on its front door to say the hotel was closed.

Fiona Newton, owner of The Heathmount, said: “Yesterday a part-time member of staff told me they had tested positive for Covid-19.

"We took the decision to voluntarily close the hotel and informed all staff, NHS Protect and Highland Council immediately.

“We recruited a specialist firm who travelled from Glasgow to deep clean the hotel this morning, Friday.

"We will remain closed today and re-open tomorrow.

“The safety of our staff and customers is the absolute priority and we continue to follow all guidelines.”
