Inverness bike sharing scheme Hi-Bikes continues to suffer vandalism after a city centre docking station was damaged.

The new addition at Highland Council’s headquarters was found with damages to one of the docking systems as well as to one of the parked bikes.

This comes after the station at Hilton was temporarily closed due to a spike in vandalism, and will reopen only when CCTV is installed nearby.

A spokesperson from the scheme, which is run by HITRANS, said the station on Glenurquhart road will remain open despite the damages.

Earlier this summer, the whole scheme was halted for a month after a concerning surge in vandalism which left the company £100,000 out of pocket.

The scheme was reinstated in August, however only with half of its fleet made available.

The docking station at Inverness Campus has also recently reopened.
