INVERNESS-based gift box service A Whale of a Time has launched a build your own box (BYOB) service.

A Whale of a Time brings together products from independent businesses across the Highlands and Islands, and the new BYOB feature is based on customer feedback since the business launched last year.

The new feature was revealed during a Facebook Live session with Small Business Saturday as part of its UK tour which runs until December 1.

Eilidh Marshall, co-director of A Whale of a Time, said: “When we launched A Whale of a Time in December 2020 the idea was to showcase the fantastic products made in the Highlands and Islands by fellow small businesses.

“In the past year, we have delivered gift boxes all over the country, extended the number of suppliers we work with, and listened to customer feedback and watched shopping trends in the marketplace.

“The trend for personalisation is still strong and the Build Your Own Box function is a response to that.

“So if somebody wants to mix things up and send a colouring book with a tipple, some smellies with some chocolate, or a box of biscuits with a book as a gift, then they absolutely can.

“We are delighted to be part of the Small Business Saturday tour in good company with so many liked-minded people who follow their dream and take a chance to start their own business.”

A Whale of a Time showcases products from Inverness, Ross-shire, Shetland, Wick, Moray, Lochaber, Harris, Lewis, Islay and Skye.

Producers involved include Loch Ness Spirits, Inverness Coffee Roasting Co, Ashers and Ablekids Press.
