Inverness firefighters battle three-hour hotel blaze

NINETEEN firefighters from Inverness have spent more than three hours battling a blaze at a derelict hotel.

Three appliances from the city’s fire station were sent to deal with the incident at the Stratton Lodge Hotel in Smithton at 4.51pm yesterday.

Nobody was thought to be injured and nobody needed to be rescued.

Police are treating the incident as suspicious.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus while extinguishing the flames.

The rear of the three-storey property was damaged.

It is understood passers by reported the incident after spotting flames coming from the building.

The fire was extinguished by 8.05pm.
