An Inverness father told police officers that he ‘would get them’ when they were off duty.

James Lane (34) became volatile and threatening and uttered violence to police officers who had attended his address on another matter on March 11.

He also uttered homophobic comments.

Lane, of Bailey Place, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Sheriff Robert Frazer fined Lane a total of £1000.

“You behaved in an abhorrent manner to police officers,” he said. “You are coming up for 40 years of age and are a father. Grow up.”

Lane’s defence solicitor Sam Morrison said: “Mr Lane had been drinking and took his frustration out on officers. He is remorseful of his behaviour and has tried to move forward in a more positive behaviour.”
