THE number of jobs at Inverness’s Fairways Leisure complex has doubled to more than 40 since lockdown with the opening of a new pizzeria and sports bar.

More than 3000 people a week are now using the Fairways facilities, including the refurbished restaurant, the Highlands’ first Top Tracer golf driving range and the improved nine-hole golf course with pro shop and tuition.

David Cameron, leader of the consortium which acquired Fairways two years ago, said: “Our turnover has substantially increased since lockdown and we’ve been pleased to increase employment.

“The new assets help us to continue to refurbish Fairways. We have just completed the refurbishment of the function suite, which will shortly generate further jobs as we have taken our first Christmas function bookings.

“Our investment has turned Fairways into a family destination.”

Operations manager Johnny Gilchrist said: “The new sports bar has 11 TV s, offering customers greater opportunity to watch a sport of their choice.

“The pizzeria is a facility for an area with hundreds of homes nearby which lack a fast-food outlet. The Fairways team will continue to work hard to meet growing demand and we’re grateful for public support.”
