Two eateries at the Victorian Market in Inverness have closed early this evening due to a roofing issue.

An investigation has been launched by Highland Council as a precautionary measure.

The venue is usually open to 8pm on Saturdays.

One of the eateries, Sushi Inverness, stated: "Apologies but we're closing just now for the rest of the evening. There is an emergency at the Victorian Market Inverness. Tomorrow we're open as usual."

Another of the businesses in the food zone, The Redshank, stated: "Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control we have had to shut early at the Victorian Market, Inverness. We are so sorry to disappoint anyone who had planned a visit this evening."

The council's Inverness city area manager David Haas stressed it was a precaution and that the plan was for it to be open tomorrow.
