From dealing with a teenage armed robber involved in a 120mph police chase to two warring brothers, Inverness Sheriff Court has had a varied caseload this week.

A brothers-at-war story unfolded at Inverness Sheriff Court when two siblings fought over the care of their dementia suffering mother and one endeFd up in hospital with a fractured skull.

Trevor Walker, of Oldtown Road, Inverness had been looking after his ill parent at his home before his sister took over, fiscal depute Karen Poke told Sheriff Sara Matheson.

But when Mrs Walker was dropped off by taxi with some clothing at Steven Walker's property in Milton of Culloden South on May 6 last year, it resulted in an argument and a scuffle there between the two Walker brothers.

A Hibs fan who racially abused Ross County star Yan Dhanda shortly after he signed a pre-contract with Edinburgh rivals Hearts has escaped a ban on going to football grounds.

However Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 28-year-old Michael Bryce of South Carron Wynd, Edinburgh had, for nine months, adhered to a special bail condition not to attend any matches in Scotland until his case was concluded.

Two women who targeted Inverness’ New Look store during a shoplifting spree in the north of Scotland have been fined.

Shannon Stewart, aged 26, of Buckie’s Letterfourie Road, and 36-year-old Claire Campbell, of the town’s Cairnfield Crescent, stole clothing and other accessories from the shop on the city’s retail park in Eastfield Way.

A teenage armed robber who took police on a 120mph chase after holding up a petrol station has been locked up for more than four years.

William MacLeod targeted the Esso Kessock garage in Inverness on May 9 last year.

A mother was subjected to more frightening behaviour by her son just days before Christmas last year, 20 months after he held two knives to her throat and threatened to stab her.

Zeke McKnight was appearing for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court on a number of offences which included forcing entry into his mother's house in Inshes Wood where he was staying at the time by repeatedly kicking and damaging the door.
