A COMMUNITY project in Crown is inviting anyone interested in volunteering to drop by to meet other volunteers and learn more about the project this Saturday (April 22).

Run entirely by volunteers, the Crown and City Community Cupboard helps to redistribute surplus fresh food from the city’s food stores into the community.

The charity aims to reduce waste by making the food available for free from its cupboard which is open from 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.

Volunteers with a car are needed to help collect produce from the shops in the day or evening and restock the cupboard shelves.

A group spokesperson said: "Anyone with a couple of hours to spare who would like to find out more is invited to join the team for tea, coffee and cakes between 4.30pm and 5.30pm this Saturday at the SHIMCA Lotus Blossom Eco Café, just upstairs from the cupboard on Ardconnel Street."
