A MAN who was found by police in an Inverness house with more than £35,000 worth of cocaine was jailed for 21 months.

Shaun Robertson of Old Milnafua Road, Alness, appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court after previously admitting being concerned in the supply of the narcotic in a house in Kenneth Place, Culloden, on March 19, 2019.

He pleaded guilty on the morning of his trial last month.

A bag bearing the 29-year-old’s fingerprints and containing 68 grams of cocaine with a maximum street value of £6800 was found hidden in the kitchen. The court heard a further 290 grams of the class A drug were found elsewhere in the property.

A co-accused had previously been jailed for 28 months.

Sheriff Sara Matheson accepted Robertson was not “the main player” but added: “You were involved in large-scale dealing of class A drugs. The courts have long made it clear that it will impose a period of imprisonment.”

The sheriff had rejected a plea by defence solicitor Graham Mann to “take an exceptional view” and impose a non-custodial sentence.

“There has been a significant passage of time since this offence and there has been no further offending,” Mr Mann had pleaded.
