Inverness Clarity Walk to go from strength to strength with HIE funding

Inverness mental health walking group Clarity Walk has been awarded its biggest pot of funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

The charity is to receive £9775 from the Community Recovery Fund to help with its training of staff and to hire a virtual assistant.

The group which provides one-to-one walks during the current lockdown as well as virtual walks around the region was founded in 2019 by Matt Wallace from Inverness.

Mr Wallace (29) said: ""I am blown away as this is our largest award to date and it feels like Clarity Walk is finally coming together and people are believing in our mission of supporting mental health and wellbeing in the community.

"This money will take pressure off us during the current lockdown and will allow us to focus on delivering the best service we possibly can to support people right now.

"Thank you everyone."

Mr Wallace confirmed that the cash will help to hire a virtual assistant for four months to support and develop Clarity Walk systems to ensure it provides the best service service possible, provide mental health first aid training for 15 volunteers to improve awareness and how to handle situations, as well as relevant signposting and to increase its advertising budget to reach and support more people in the community to improve their mental wellbeing.
