Inverness city centre to host escape-room style mystery game

Amateur sleuths and those who love a game are in for a treat in Inverness city centre.

From Saturday, August 24, Inverness city centre will be hosting a free-to-play, escape-room style mystery game: The Mystery of the Star-Eater.

This immersive event is for adults looking for a fun evening out in the city and offers a blend of intrigue, adventure, and competition.

The Mystery of the Star-Eater invites groups of three to eight players to step into the shoes of amateur detectives tasked with solving the case of the missing Professor Maccelsbury.

With only a thin case file and their wits to rely on, players visit ten city centre venues where they can stop to enjoy a refreshment before popping on to find the next venue and clue.

By scanning the QR codes with a smartphone at each venue they will unlock new clues and puzzles, driving players deeper into the mystery!

Participants are encouraged to take a notepad and snap screenshots of any online evidence they uncover as they move through the trail.

Venues include: Rose Street Foundry; Blackfriars; Playback; Platform 8; The Imperial; The Caledonian; Johnny Foxes & The Den; Auctioneers; Highlander Bar; and R&B's.

Event organiser Margaret Laws of Inverness BID said: “This event is ideal for adults and offers a fantastic opportunity to gather with friends, explore Inverness, and enjoy a fun and stimulating challenge.

“Whether you're an experienced puzzle-solver or a newcomer to mystery games, The Mystery of the Star-Eater guarantees a unique and unforgettable experience.

“Our grateful thanks to Safekab who sponsored the event which runs until Saturday, September 14.”
