The two iconic city structures will shine red every evening until Monday to raise awareness of the annual Poppyscotland fundraising campaign.

The charity’s head of fundraising, Gordon Michie, said: “We are delighted that Inverness is once again showing its support for the Scottish Poppy Appeal by lighting up both the Castle and Ness Bridge.

“We hope that when people see this they will think about ways that they too can go the extra mile in their support for this year’s Poppy Appeal.”

Highland Council’s armed forces and veteran’s champion, Councillor Roddy Balfour, said: “Highland Council is a strong supporter of the Scottish Poppy Appeal and council members will be attending numerous remembrance ceremonies and parades across the region.

“I am delighted that we are able to further demonstrate our support by illuminating Ness Bridge and Inverness Castle for this year’s appeal.”
