INVERNESS Caley Thistle have joined 100s of UK football clubs in donating a special jersey in memory of a non-league player.

Matlock Town’s Jordan Sinnott (25) was found with a fractured skull in Retford, Nottinghamshire, early last Saturday and died that evening in hospital.

Three men have been charged in connection with his death.

ICT manager John Robertson was moved to make sure his club’s famous red, blue and black shirt, with Sinnott 25 printed on the back, was added to a mass of club colours on show at Mr Sinnott’s funeral.

The jerseys will then be donated to Sports Relief, with money raised from their sale going to the charity.

Former ICT fans’ chief David Balfour said: “I think it is a really admirable and very touching gesture by John and everyone else at Caley Thistle to make sure our club is represented.

“We were all shocked by what is a terrible tragedy for Jordan Sinnott and his family, but once again we’re reminded that football is one big family that always comes together at times like this.”
