INVERNESS busker and trader Kim Gordon has reportedly faked his death while in California.

It is understood US Marshals are helping Monterey County Sheriff's Department find him after it was feared he had drowned while swimming in the sea on Monday night.

Apparently his teenage son has flown back to Scotland after he reported his father missing but police do not seem to be satisfied with the version of events he described.

KSBW Action News 8 has reported the story in America.

Mr Gordon, also known as Avis, is in his 50s.
