Inverness businessman receives OBE for services to the economy of the Highlands
Inverness businessman Stewart Nicol has been given an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the economy of the Highlands.
Mr Nicol has been at the forefront of developing the Inverness and Highlands and Islands business communities, most notably in his previous role as chief executive of Inverness Chamber of Commerce.
He also serves as director of Scottish Chambers of Commerce and is a charity trustee of Culloden-Balloch Baptist Church and Kilravock Christian Trust.
Mr Nicol said: “I am delighted and honoured to have received this award and it was particularly special for me to have family at the Investiture in Buckingham Palace last week.
”It has been an absolute privilege to work with Inverness and Highlands businesses of every size, from across all sectors over many years. I have worked tirelessly, along with many great colleagues, to connect, support and represent our business community at the highest possible level.
”Businesses in Inverness and across the Highlands will always face significant challenges as they trade locally, regionally and internationally. However, I strongly believe our business community has the resilience, innovation and leadership necessary to ensure our continued success and development, something which is vital to the wellbeing of our region, communities and future generations.”
