AN Inverness barbers has taken measures in a bid to keep its staff and customers safe from coronavirus and other infections.

City Barbers, an independent operation based inside Tesco Extra at Inshes, posted a "Polite Client Notice" on Facebook urging people not to come in if they are feeling unwell.

The shop posted: "Due to ongoing events we feel it necessary to post a note [regarding] the coronavirus and how we at City Barbers can all play our part in helping to halt the spread of this virus.

"In the interests of keeping our team and clients safe be advised not to come for a haircut if you feel under the weather.

"Make sure you wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitiser where possible.

"If you have recently been on holiday to any of the affected areas across the world please contact us prior to coming in or booking an appointment.

"To some this may seem like overkill but we have a duty of care to each other and to our clients in order to stay healthy as possible. Thanks for your co-operation."

City Barbers did not wish to comment further.
