Inverness academy to host biggest show yet by abstract artist
Abstract artist Rowena Comrie is celebrating her biggest solo show to date, with ‘Beyond Forever’ which opens on August 22 at Inverness Creative Academy.
The show features over 40 works by Comrie varying in sizes from large works to a selection of medium-sized and small works.
To commemorate the exhibition, Comrie is launching a publication at the event which is an overview of her work over the past few years.

Renowned for her paintings of pure abstraction and with a lifelong love of the seaside, Comrie is inspired by coastlines, the distant horizon and wide skies.
The show features work made over the past five years and will appear over two floors of the Academy – the main hall and the balcony.
The show will include abstract paintings in oils and watercolours. All work is for sale.
Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Comrie studied at University of Reading where she specialised in abstract painting.
Following her graduation, she moved to London, then made the move to Scotland – living in Aberdeen for 20 years, before moving to Glasgow, where she has been based for 14 years.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be having my biggest solo exhibition to date in Inverness Creative Academy.
“‘Beyond Forever’ is a combination of new work which I’m excited to be showing, along with other work from the past five years. I’m looking forward to exhibiting in Inverness for the first time and I hope art lovers from the local area and beyond come along and see the show.”
Inverness Creative Academy is the Highlands’ first major creative hub. It offers working accommodation for artists and makers, creative industries, social enterprises and charities as well as a café, gallery and event space.
